Krishna welcomes Sudama
Sudama arrives at Krishna’s palace with almost nothing to offer and is received with the warmth of an old friend.
Sudama, a poor brahmana and Krishna’s former schoolmate, traveled to Dwarka hoping for help. He carried a humble gift of chipped rice.
Krishna rose to embrace him, seated him with honor and remembered their student days. Sudama felt unable to make a request, but Krishna accepted his small gift with delight.
Returning home, Sudama found that his family’s needs had been met. The story’s center, however, remains the welcome itself: friendship measured by affection rather than status.
